Coaching is an every day thing
Thursday, May 22nd, 200824 days to Father’s Day.
Today we begin a project of coaching our teens. My plan is to approach my kids once every day for the next 24 days. Each touch will be just a few seconds, maybe a minute. My intention is for us to establish a strong pattern of listening to each other. A brief light touch of listening every day will have more impact on my kids than a long, heavy talk that everyone hates and nobody listens.
Today I will approach my teen boys and say:
“In 24 days it will be Father’s Day. I want to make this Father’s Day something touching and memorable for the whole family. Do you want to help me out?”
Whatever they say will be fine. I will nod my head and say: “Thanks for listening. I’ll be talking to you about it again, tomorrow.”
