Bloggers look at this

May 27th, 2008

I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

Lets sit together for a minute and brainstorm

22 days to Father’s Day.

I said to my 2 teens:
“Hey, I’d like you to join me for a minute. Sit down with me and let’s see what ideas we can come up with to celebrate Fathers day.”

I’m not afraid to ask for help

23 days to Father’s Day.

How do I coach my teens? They seem so cut off from family. Do they just want to eat and argue and be left alone to space out? I know that under that layer of spunk and coolness is a loving child.

My plan is to approach my kids once every day for the next 23 days. Each touch will be just a few seconds, maybe a minute. That’s doable.

Today I will approach my teen boys and say:

“I want to make this Father’s Day something touching and memorable for the whole family. Do you have any ideas?”

Whatever they say will be fine. I will nod my head and say: “Thanks for listening. I’ll be talking to you about it again, tomorrow.”

Coaching is an every day thing

May 22nd, 2008

24 days to Father’s Day.

Today we begin a project of coaching our teens. My plan is to approach my kids once every day for the next 24 days. Each touch will be just a few seconds, maybe a minute. My intention is for us to establish a strong pattern of listening to each other. A brief light touch of listening every day will have more impact on my kids than a long, heavy talk that everyone hates and nobody listens.

Today I will approach my teen boys and say:

“In 24 days it will be Father’s Day. I want to make this Father’s Day something touching and memorable for the whole family. Do you want to help me out?”

Whatever they say will be fine. I will nod my head and say: “Thanks for listening. I’ll be talking to you about it again, tomorrow.”

We parents can coach our teens to celebrate our family

May 22nd, 2008

24 days to Father’s Day. Every day we will be posting a new experiment and its results, together with a gameplan for you that you can try in your own family.

Check back today after 12 noon.
